Is Cherry Survival a family-friendly Minecraft server? A guide for parents

Updated

Cherry Survival is a family-friendly Minecraft server in ways parents can check. It is free to play. Chat is moderated (English only, a word filter, active staff), PvP is off unless a player turns it on, and land claims stop other players breaking builds. The optional store sells Coins, crate keys and an MVP rank, with no earning boost.

Is the chat moderated?

Yes. Main chat is English only, so staff can read everything said. A word filter runs on chat, and staff act on reports. The rules are tiered, from chat warnings up to bans:

BandCovers, for example
Minor ChatSpamming, disrespecting players, inappropriate chat (drugs, sexual or NSFW content, politics), non-English messages in main chat
Minor BanScamming, harassment, real-life threats, griefing, attacking players who have PvP off, inappropriate builds or skins, toxicity
Major BansEncouraging harm (including self-harm or suicide), discrimination, hacking, major bug abuse
ExtrasAdvertising other servers, inappropriate usernames, evading a punishment, real-money trades between players

The Discord has its own Minor and Major rules covering the same ground. Casino and gambling-themed builds are not allowed. Read the full rules.

Can other players hurt or grief my child?

Does it cost money? What does the store sell?

Nothing has to be bought. Cherry Survival is free to play, and every level and rank is earned by playing. The store at store.cherrysurvival.com is optional and sells:

No gear and no earning boosts are sold. Trading real money with other players for in-game items is against the rules; only the official store is allowed.

Is there an age requirement?

No. The server sets no age rule of its own, and Minecraft's own account rules apply to every player. What it does have is moderation: English-only chat with a word filter, tiered rules from chat warnings to bans, and staff who act on reports (see the chat section).

How do I report a problem?

Join the Cherry Survival Discord and open a ticket. Staff handle reports, and ban appeals go through the Discord too. You can also email ops@thunderstudios.dev. More on the support page.

Can my child play on a phone, Xbox, PlayStation or Switch?

Yes. Java and Bedrock players play together in one world. Java players need version 1.17 or newer and add join.cherrysurvival.com. Bedrock players on a phone or Windows add join.cherrysurvival.com with port 19132. Xbox, PlayStation and Switch cannot type a server address, so they join through BedrockConnect, a free third-party project, by changing the console's DNS. The how to join guide has every step.

What is a Minecraft SMP, in plain words?

SMP stands for survival multiplayer: a shared Minecraft survival world that players live in together. Cherry Survival is one:
